What's Up Wednesday - October 26, 2022

What’s Up Wednesday! I’m gonna link up with Sheaffer and Shay to answer a little  about what’s going on around here.

1. What we're eating this week:

Monday - We had NY Strip Steaks, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and green beans from the garden.

Tuesday - We had take - out from our local Mexican food restaurant.

Wednesday - Tonight we'll have hamburger steak, zucchini and baked potatoes.

Thursday - Smoked chicken I have in the freezer with sautéed zucchini and mushrooms on the side.

Friday - Homemade pepperoni pizza

I have not thought as far ahead as Saturday and Sunday yet.

2. What I'm reminiscing about:

The Formula 1 race in Austin just finished last weekend and while we did not attend in person this year, we did last year. It was a fun weekend and my dad even got to come down and go to the race with us. Formula 1 has recently become super popular since there is a Netflix series about it.

3. What I'm Loving:

The sun is just starting to rise on my way to work currently. The sunrises have been absolutely gorgeous!!

4. What We've Been Up To:

The first part of the month we went to a horse show in the Texas panhandle! It's always nice to catch up with friends. We took vacation from work for the week to make this happen.

This past weekend we met up with another couple for dinner at a restaurant that was new to me. They'd all been there before. Good food and drinks were had by all!

This week I treated myself to a very relaxing facial at a new to me spa. It was so relaxing!!! Plus, this spa took evening appointments which is so nice for those who can't ever seem to get a weekend appointment booked. I'll definitely go back!

5. What I'm Dreading:

Nothing to dread! The weather has been absolutely perfect lately; low's around 50 highs around 80. It's finally fall here!

6. What I'm Working on:

Currently working on being better at putting things in my planner! It's time to have all appointments in once place instead of a myriad of places (phone notes, Google calendar, planner, wall calendar, etc). I love routine and consistency!

7. What I'm Excited About:

I'm getting excited about Thanksgiving!! I think we'll have a full table this year with family and I could not be happier! Finalizing my Thanksgiving menu this week and picking up the turkey today while I'm at the store. We serve a super traditional Thanksgiving meal, so turkey is a priority on the list!

8. What I'm Watching / Reading:

I picked up a copy of Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals from the library this week! I'm only a few pages in, so I'll let you know how I like it.

9. What I'm Listening To:

My current obsession is the Darin Olein Show with his podcasts on fatal conveniences. Very interesting content and things I've never heard before. I'm learning so much!

10. What I'm Wearing:

I actually haven't bought anything new lately, but I'm obsessed with the Zella Live in Pocket Joggers I purchased during the Nordstrom sale! They're so comfy and I love wearing them around the house in the evenings.

11. What I'm Doing this Weekend:

What am I doing this weekend? Saturday morning I'm going to go early vote. Don't forget, it's important. We'll probably do breakfast out on Saturday and the rest of the weekend we'll relax at home. I need to clean the porch furniture to get ready for Thanksgiving guests too.

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:

In addition to Thanksgiving excitement which you've already read about above, I'll put the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving! Here's a peek of our tree from last year!

13. Favorite Amazon Find:

I found this vintage looking set of bells to add to a wreath I already have! They have a wonderful muted tone as well.

That's all I have for this What's Up Wednesday! Enjoy your week!

Friday Favorites - June 27, 2025

It's been a good 2 years since I've updated this blog! I enjoy reading everyone's Friday Favorites, but kinda lost my blogging mojo. It's time to jump back in. #1 Friends This week we had a fast trip up to Cordova, TN, to a mounted shooting competition. I'd reached out to Jenn earlier this week for recommendations for restaurants in the area and she invited me to coffee! What a fun visit! I absolutely loved visiting with her and she is the same in person as she is on her blog. She's so genuine and fun!  The shoot had 81 entries; we hung out with some old friends and met some new friends. My husband is in this photo with a fellow competitor he's known for over 20 years. Mounted shooting is such a small sport and we travel all over the country as competitions are far and few between. I would say we probably know or met someone from every single state and a few countries along the way.  Last night, our friends came over with their kids. We had fajitas, rice a...

Friday Favorites - July 11

Happy Friday Friends! I'm so looking forward to the weekend; I don't have a lot on the schedule, but I have some plans on my to do list. Looking forward to some walks outside in the sunshine, tackling a few projects and relaxing.  #1 Baking My friend Stephanie and I baked kolaches. She's a pro at it and helped me; we split these up for the July 4th weekend. Red (raspberry), White (cream cheese) and Blue (poppy seed). They were all so good and disappeared quickly this week. These were so easy! Just Rhodes dinner roll dough and Solo pastry filling. We did make the topping and cream cheese filling from scratch .  #2 Health Getting back on the health and wellness track. I had a skin check at the dermatologist which I haven't done in 10+ years. I went to a new clinic and it was a little bit of a drive (about 90 miles), but I really liked the staff. All good news! Yay!  I also did my Caroline Girvan Iron program workouts twice this week, cold plunged twice and used the s...

Friday Favorites - June 23, 2023

Here's some of my favorites from the week. #1 Whoop Band I have a couple of friends that wear a Whoop band which is pretty much a health / fitness tracker but with tons more data. I've been wearing my Whoop for about a month now and using it to improve my overall health. It's helping me see where the problems are, where improvement is needed and measures overall health. These bands are worn by a lot of pro-golfers and athletes and digging into the data can help you analyze patterns so when there's a change in your norms it gives you a heads up. Some of the pro athletes noticed their respiratory rate and heart rate variability was out of their norm several days before being tested positive for COVID. Since I'm a data nerd this band has really been a favorite lately. Here's a screen shot of one day of mine; clearing improvement is needed! #2 Margaritas If you're local to the Victoria, TX, area, you have to try the margaritas at Hacienda Restaurant in front of ...
