Friday Favorites - December 16, 2022

The countdown to Christmas is only! Can you believe it is only 9 days away? It's exciting, but stressful at the same time.

This evening we're joining another couple for dinner at a new bistro that opened in town. Their menu looks absolutely fabulous, so I am looking forward to a great meal with even better company.

Here's some of my favorites from the week.

Out and About

Saturday, we went with our good friends to a town about an hour away that had a Mingle on Main event. Street vendors with wine at each little stop. It was only $20 for a glass and there were 16 vendors pouring tastings and selling all sorts of goodies from baked goods to Tupperware. A good time was had by all and we went to a steakhouse afterwards for dinner.

Meals

One night this week I did not have a dinner plan. I did not have anything thawed we could grill. I told Matt I was craving pancakes. He's doing Keto currently, so he just went with traditional chorizo, bacon and eggs, but I had a full breakfast. Not the healthiest, but it was comfort food and fun to do something a little out of the ordinary for us.

Holiday Cheer

Since Matt is doing the Keto diet, I decided to bake a little sweet treat. I shared the recipe over at my other blog. These Keto Spritz Cookies are sooooo good. You cannot even tell they're not full of carbs. Matt had a friend over picking up some things, so I sent him home with a bag. He loved them as well.

Found this on the Web this Week

I love this simple holiday decor with the deep browns, natural greenery and rust colors. This is a Beautiful Christmas Home Snapshot.

This Santa Bread using frozen dough is adorable and I think I might attempt to make it for Christmas day.

I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

This week I'm linking up with Erika & Andrea for Friday Favorites!

Friday Favorites - June 27, 2025

It's been a good 2 years since I've updated this blog! I enjoy reading everyone's Friday Favorites, but kinda lost my blogging mojo. It's time to jump back in. #1 Friends This week we had a fast trip up to Cordova, TN, to a mounted shooting competition. I'd reached out to Jenn earlier this week for recommendations for restaurants in the area and she invited me to coffee! What a fun visit! I absolutely loved visiting with her and she is the same in person as she is on her blog. She's so genuine and fun!  The shoot had 81 entries; we hung out with some old friends and met some new friends. My husband is in this photo with a fellow competitor he's known for over 20 years. Mounted shooting is such a small sport and we travel all over the country as competitions are far and few between. I would say we probably know or met someone from every single state and a few countries along the way.  Last night, our friends came over with their kids. We had fajitas, rice a...

Friday Favorites - June 23, 2023

Here's some of my favorites from the week. #1 Whoop Band I have a couple of friends that wear a Whoop band which is pretty much a health / fitness tracker but with tons more data. I've been wearing my Whoop for about a month now and using it to improve my overall health. It's helping me see where the problems are, where improvement is needed and measures overall health. These bands are worn by a lot of pro-golfers and athletes and digging into the data can help you analyze patterns so when there's a change in your norms it gives you a heads up. Some of the pro athletes noticed their respiratory rate and heart rate variability was out of their norm several days before being tested positive for COVID. Since I'm a data nerd this band has really been a favorite lately. Here's a screen shot of one day of mine; clearing improvement is needed! #2 Margaritas If you're local to the Victoria, TX, area, you have to try the margaritas at Hacienda Restaurant in front of ...

Hello Monday & Day in the Life - Weekend

Linking up with Hello Monday   and NJAM   for a two in one post. Recapping our weekend! Friday was Matt's birthday, so as soon as I got home for work, he opened his gift and then we met some friends for dinner at Gonzales Bistro. Talk about delicious! This is the third time we've been to this new restaurant and it never disappoints. Three of us had Alaskan halibut and one had salmon.  Saturday I spent more time working in the garden until it got super hot. We had a high of 92°F! I planted a few more pepper plants I picked up at HEB as well as some cucumber plants and seeds. I put up the trellis for the cucumbers and also decided to plant some luffa seeds and pole beans. Growing luffa and pole beans are new for me, so we'll see how it goes.  Saturday afternoon, Matt's parents were at home, so we invited them over for birthday cake. The birthday guy requested tres leches cake and it did not disappoint! I had a local bakery make it and they did a fantastic job...
