Friday Favorites - July 25

Happy Friday Friends! I'm so looking forward to the weekend; I have some shopping plans and we're hosting some of my husband's college friends for the weekend. We have some yummy drinks and foods planned for the weekend.

#1 Birthdays & Spa Days

We celebrated my friend's 40th birthday! We had a party for her to celebrate on Sunday then Monday we went to the Lake Austin Spa. Voted by Conde Nast as the #1 spa destination in the US. It didn't disappoint! We had massages and facials and spent time lounging by the pool.

#2 Desserts

Some of y'all know I have a more professional blog. I added a new recipe over there for The Best Vanilla Whoopie Pies with Buttercream Filling! So yummy! We've been eating on these throughout the week, but they are HUGE so we generally split one.

#3 A New Minimalist Purse

I've been having such should pain and finally gave in that it was in fact my heavy, very large purse I'd been carrying. I ordered this cross body with a thick strap. They have so many straps to choose from! So much better! My previous purse weighed 10.4 pounds with all my stuff in it; this one only 4 pounds! Wow, what a difference! Plus now my hands are free and it makes running errands much more enjoyable.

#4 The Super Mercado

I love good authentic Mexican food and love to shop at international grocery stores that have a wide variety of things that are normally carried at HEB. On the way back from Austin, we stopped at a Super Mercado in Lockhart, TX, for some good seasoned beef fajita and whatever else we could find! Take a look at this meat market counter! It is epic!! So many choices! The produce looked fantastic and we also picked up some freshly made hot sauces!

I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

This week I'm linking up with Erika & Andrea for Friday Favorites!

  1. I was so pleasantly surprised to open up my blog today and see your update! What a fun few days...that spa day sounds amazing. I've never gotten a facial before, but I'm thinking it's something I'm going to do for myself soon. My sister gets one each month, and she swears by them! I'm intrigued, to say the least. Your new purse is adorable! I made mine into a crossbody with a thick strap, and have never looked back. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. That spa day sounds wonderful... even if I have come to the realization that I don't really enjoy spas. Yes, I am weird but facials, massages, and the like are not at all relaxing to me. I LOVE the vibe of a good spa though. The gentle music, the water and the invitation to just relax and forget about the outside world.

  3. Purse straps matter! Sometimes the wrong purse can make my back ache for days.

I have a teen that would lose her mind over that recipe...!

Friday Favorites - June 27, 2025

It's been a good 2 years since I've updated this blog! I enjoy reading everyone's Friday Favorites, but kinda lost my blogging mojo. It's time to jump back in. #1 Friends This week we had a fast trip up to Cordova, TN, to a mounted shooting competition. I'd reached out to Jenn earlier this week for recommendations for restaurants in the area and she invited me to coffee! What a fun visit! I absolutely loved visiting with her and she is the same in person as she is on her blog. She's so genuine and fun!  The shoot had 81 entries; we hung out with some old friends and met some new friends. My husband is in this photo with a fellow competitor he's known for over 20 years. Mounted shooting is such a small sport and we travel all over the country as competitions are far and few between. I would say we probably know or met someone from every single state and a few countries along the way.  Last night, our friends came over with their kids. We had fajitas, rice a...

Friday Favorites - July 11

Happy Friday Friends! I'm so looking forward to the weekend; I don't have a lot on the schedule, but I have some plans on my to do list. Looking forward to some walks outside in the sunshine, tackling a few projects and relaxing.  #1 Baking My friend Stephanie and I baked kolaches. She's a pro at it and helped me; we split these up for the July 4th weekend. Red (raspberry), White (cream cheese) and Blue (poppy seed). They were all so good and disappeared quickly this week. These were so easy! Just Rhodes dinner roll dough and Solo pastry filling. We did make the topping and cream cheese filling from scratch .  #2 Health Getting back on the health and wellness track. I had a skin check at the dermatologist which I haven't done in 10+ years. I went to a new clinic and it was a little bit of a drive (about 90 miles), but I really liked the staff. All good news! Yay!  I also did my Caroline Girvan Iron program workouts twice this week, cold plunged twice and used the s...
